Twin Cities Child Photographer - Brush Your Teeth!

Time is of the essence... Baby #2 is on his way (due March 11) and I still have so much preparing to do.  My nest must be nested!  Why did I ever think I'd have "plenty of time" two months before my due date?? I totally forgot how exhausting this last stretch can be - not even factoring in the challenge of a 2 1/2 year old who seems to be done with naps for a while!

I'm so excited about meeting our Byron though.  It's easier to be more excited and less scared with this one - I feel like I have a better understanding of what I'm getting myself into this time. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.  Afterall - my little Debbie is so amazing, I'm sure this little guy will be downright incredible.

The other day I realized that I have not taken one picture of myself pregnant, this time 'round. I guess I need to get on that, huh?   I'll make it a goal to have that done within the next couple weeks...you all can hold me to that!

In the meantime, enjoy this little video I made of Debbie the other day.  Her new favorite pastime is brushing her teeth. She's pretty crazy about it!  It's right up there with taking baths and washing dishes.

Now if I could only get her to be this crazy about potty training...we'd be set!

Twin Cities Birth Photographer - Derek Michael: A Birth Story

This little guy showed up somewhat unexpectedly, over Thanksgiving weekend.  It was a beautiful, joyful -  dare I say perfect birth - giving his parents much to be thankful for.  I am yet again amazed at the wonder of new life, and the blessing this brings to all of us.

I am also super excited to share the slideshow I created for this birth (below), because I've added clips of REAL FOOTAGE from the birth itself (don't worry, it's the good kind)!  Give it a watch and let me know what you think.

At the time I wasn't sure how it would all turn out, so I didn't even let the mom and dad know I was going to film anything.  But they really liked the results! I hope to create more slideshows like this for future clients, as I think these little "live moments" really help to capture the powerful emotion of the event.  I'm VERY excited at the possibilities of this approach, and look forward to pursuing it further!

Twin Cities Wedding Redux Photographer - Wedding Photos (Re-done) a Year Later!

My friend Jen had a beautiful wedding. Everything went perfectly (for the most part!), and everyone had a great time. But to her, there was one disappointment...her wedding photos.

One year after her wedding, Jen formed a grand idea to resolve this problem. Why not fly her friend Elizabeth all the way down to TN, to do a Wedding Redux?

Well, this turned out to be more than a grand idea - it was a GREAT idea! Jen and I had so much fun planning this session, and all without the wedding-planning-pressure like the year before. We had the time and leisure to visit 3 different locations and to get all the poses she wanted. Her husband Zach was a great sport about it as well - I think he enjoyed seeing his wife so excited and happy. :-)

My favorite part was seeing the amazed look on Jen's face as I periodically showed her images on my camera. Jen forgets how beautiful she is, even though she could be a model. It was my pleasure to provide irrefutable proof of this! :-)
