It's been so long since I wrote last - and no doubt you've forgotten all about me! But in my defense, some very big things have been happening around here lately. And most importantly...

Byron is finally here!
Byron Caleb was born at home on the 21st of March, at 9:42 in the morning. The labor was excruciating, let me tell you (!!!!!) - but I'll spare you the details. :-)
The good news is that our little boy is healthy and strong and growing at a ferocious rate - he's grown 1/2 a lb a week since birth (destined to reach his 6'4" daddy, I'm sure). We are so happy and thankful to finally have him here with us, and I'm doubly thankful for my quick recovery - one certainly needs their strength when caring for 2 children under 3. Especially when they almost never sleep when you want them to!
Congratulations; he is beautiful!! Cute name too. What was his birth weight?
ReplyDelete7lbs 10 oz, 21 1/2 inches long. Almost a lb bigger than his sister, but 1/2 an inch shorter!
ReplyDeleteSo funny, Liz!
ReplyDeleteI love maternity photos of myself. There is something about being pregnant that makes me feel free to enjoy the power and beauty of a being that can create life.
But while I thought I wanted birth photos when the time came to decide for sure I was too shy to do it. I become very animalistic at the end wanting to go hide and birth without feeling watched.
I didn't understand why anyone wouldn't want to a birth photographer until after having Keen. Now I do.
That said I know that I am very quiet and respectful at a birth, almost unnoticeable. But I think because I do this, I feel a deep knowledge that the camera would be there.
Maybe I will next time ...
I try to take a picture of both kids every day. They aren't all perfect, they can't be, but it's been fun to break the habit of thinking of pictures but not taking them.
It is interesting how different women birth differently! I personally can’t imagine having a baby without a bunch of people being there. lol But of course – that’s how it simply happened the first time, and everyone helped me SO much that now I can’t imagine wanting it any other way.
ReplyDeleteI have experienced a few births of women who like to go into their “cave” right before giving birth. I usually deal with that by completely leaving them alone until they are pushing the baby out. They usually care way more the first picture w/baby than labor pictures anyway!
